Star batter Shubman Gill has been included in India's squad for the impending five-match T20I series against South Africa at home. The BCCI announced the 15-member squad while revealing that Gill's availability is subject to fitness. The latter injured his neck during the SA Test series. Hardik Pandya, who missed the Australia tour, has also returned to the Indian squad led by Suryakumar Yadav.

Gill yet to get clearance
Gill suffered a neck injury while batting in the 1st Test against South Africa in Kolkata. He retired hurt and didn't return to bat thereafter. The BCCI medical team diagnosed his condition as a pinched nerve, which required at least five weeks of rest before he could resume training. As mentioned, his participation in the SA T20Is is subject to fitness.

After the ongoing ODI series, India and SA will square off in five T20Is. Cuttack, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad will host the matches on December 9, 11, 14, 17, and 19, respectively.
