    PV Sindhu storms into Hong Kong Open Superseries QF
  • PV Sindhu thrashed Japan's Aya Ohori in straight games 21-14, 21-17, to advance into quarterfinal of the Hong Kong Open Superseries in Kowloon.

    The ace Olympic silver medallist dominated the 2nd round match throughout, finishing it in just 39 minutes.

    Sindhu will now face the winner of the match between Akane Yamaguchi and Sayaka Sato in the quarter-finals.

  • Hong Kong Open is the last of 12 Superseries of badminton season. It was first played in 1982.

    This year the tournament has been scheduled from 21-26 November.

    Ng Ka Long Angus, and Tai Zu Ying are the defending champions in Men's and Women's Singles respectively.

    From India, Prakash Padukone in 1982, and Saina Nehwal in 2010, are the only ones to win it.

  • Ace shuttlers PV Sindhu, and Saina Nehwal will represent India in Women's singles, while HS Prannoy, B Sai Praneeth, Sourabh Verma, and Parupalli Kashyap are in fray for Men's Singles.

    Notably, Srikanth Kidambi, Ajay Jayaram, and Sameer Verma have withdrawn owing to injuries.

    Manu Attri/ Sumeeth Reddy, and Ashwini Ponnappa/ N Sikki Reddy represent India in the Men's and Women's doubles category respectively.
