INDvsWI: SC to decide if Mumbai would host the ODI

The MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai was already facing issues in hosting a T20I match and now the Wankhede might also lose the rights of an ODI between India and West Indies. It has come to fore that the Supreme Court (SC) would decide on the fate of Mumbai hosting the ODI encounter on October 29. Here's more on the same.

HC directs MCA to the apex court

The secretary and another official of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had approached the Bombay High Court, in view of appointing an ad-hoc committee for the international match between India and West Indies. But the High Court has directed them to seek a solution in the apex court. Reports state that the officials are set to meet the BCCI later today.

    The issue surrounding the MCA

The match at the Wankhede is scheduled to be played on October 29. Earlier this year, the HC had appointed a Committee of Administrators for the MCA, which was headed by two retired judges. But they gave up their charge on September 14. Officials are now busy getting the paper work ready and are set to approach the top court.

In-stadia advertising rights, non-operating bank account haunt the MCA

The MCA is currently facing an inability to operate its bank account, besides also dealing with non-issuance of tender notice as far the in-stadia advertising rights are concerned. The officials will be looking to get things sorted in the meeting with the BCCI before going to the SC. If things go awry for the MCA, then BCCI will have to find a new venue.

BCCI, TNCA hit an impasse over complimentary tickets issue

Besides the problems surrounding the MCA, the BCCI and the The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) have hit an impasse over the quota of complimentary tickets, available for the T20I match between India and West Indies. According to the new BCCI constitution, 90% of the seating capacity needs to be put on sale for public. But TNCA has stated it cannot follow this rule.
