Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have played a massive role, for their teams, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the last 11 editions. Both the players made their IPL debut in 2008 and since then they have gone on to script several unique records. Ahead of IPL 2019, we compare the performance of these two players in the cash-rich league.

Rohit has pocketed four IPL trophies, Kohli has none

Rohit has enjoyed tremendous success in the IPL. He has four trophies to his name. He was part of DC when they had won the title in 2009. The senior cricketer then led Mumbai Indians to three IPL titles in 2013, 2015 and 2017 respectively. Kohli hasn't won an IPL trophy yet. He led Royal Challengers Bangalore to the final in 2016.

Rohit has a better win percentage as captain

Kohli has led RCB in 96 matches in the IPL. The tally under Kohli reads: W 44, L 47, Tied 2, N/R 3. He has a win percentage of 48.38. Meanwhile, Rohit has led MI in 89 matches. The tally under Rohit reads: W 51, L 37, Tied 1, N/R 0. Rohit's win percentage of 57.86, means that he is more successful as skipper.

Kohli has enjoyed more success as a batsman

In terms of career IPL runs, Kohli has amassed 4,948 and leads Rohit (4,493). Kohli has four hundreds to his name and he has the distinction of getting them in a single edition. Rohit has one hundred to his name. Kohli won the prestigious Orange Cap in 2016 after amassing 973 runs. This is the highest ever tally by any batsman in the IPL.

Last season Kohli outscored Rohit. The Indian captain smashed 530 runs that included four fifties. Rohit had a poor campaign with the bat. He amassed 286 runs that included just two half-centuries. MI finished fifth and RCB were sixth on the table.
