A leg spinner born in India's Ludhiana but has become a regular in New Zealand's limited-overs cricket team, Ish Sodhi is an example of what perseverance and hard work can reap. Starting his career in Auckland, where the pitches are unfriendly toward spinners, Sodhi started receiving attention only after moving to the Northern Districts. Sodhi made his first-class debut for Northern Districts in 2012. His talent was clearly visible from the beginning, and the New Zealand selectors saw the potential he had. His first call-up to the national team came with not even a full first-class season under his belt. Sodhi made his international debut in a Test match against Bangladesh in 2013.
