What's the story

Sunrisers Hyderabad ace Ishan Kishan has completed 3,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw accomplished the milestone with his second run in the IPL 2026 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Notably, Kishan has been named SRH's captain for the first few games this season owing to Pat Cummins's injury. He ended up scoring a 38-ball 80.

Kishan did well and played on a superb level. After the loss of three early scalps, Kishan took control and smashed the RCB bowlers. He stitched a 97-run stand alongside Heinrich Klaasen, who ended up scoring a 22-ball 31. Kishan shone in an one-man majority show. He was finally dismissed in the 16th over. SRH were 155/6 when Kishan was dismissed by Abhinandan Singh.

Journey 

A look at Kishan's IPL journey 

Kishan made 319 runs for the now-defunct Gujarat Lions in his first two IPL seasons combined (2016 and 2017). The southpaw made his MI debut in 2018. 2,325 of his IPL runs have come in 89 games for the Mumbai-based team at 29.80. He also won two titles with MI. Kishan was then sold to SRH for ₹11.25 crore at the 2025 IPL auction.

Kishan announced his arrival at SRH with a breathtaking 47-ball 106* in the team's IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals. However, he could enter double digits only once in his next six outings. His only other 50-plus score was a 94 from 48 balls versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru in SRH's penultimate match. Kishan finished the season with 354 runs at 35.4 (SR: 152.58).
