Sri Lankan cricketer Isuru Udana's career is similar to a typical Bollywood movie. It starts with a bang and ends just like that. In between, you see a glimpse of hope, but it turns out to be nothing but false hope. Any player who plays their first first-class and List A match for the Sri Lanka A team is considered to be someone with huge potential. After making his List A and first-class debut in 2008 against South Africa A team, Udana went on to play for Tamil Union in the 2008-09 season. In the 2009 Sri Lankan Inter-Provincial T20 tournament, he was declared player of the series. His impressive performances led to him being included in the Sri Lankan team for the 2009 World T20. After the tournament, however, Udana was dropped from the squad. Although he made sporadic returns in 2012 and 2016, Udana couldn't hold his spot in the team. He turned a new leaf in 2018 after improving his batting skills. He was part of the Sri Lankan squad for the 2019 World Cup. However, a serious back injury ruled him out of contention since February 2020. Udana announced his retirement from international cricket in 2021.
