Langer cannot wait to see Warner play well in Tests

    What's the story

Australia are set to face Pakistan in a two-match Test series, starting November 21.

Australian cricket team head coach Justin Langer has backed opener David Warner to come good.

Langer said that he cannot wait to see Warner playing well, besides calling him a destructive player.

Here's what Langer said about the southpaw ahead of the first Test.

    Ashes 2019

Warner had suffered a low in Ashes 2019

In the Ashes 2019 in England, Warner went through his worst moment in Test cricket with the bat.

The five-match series that was drawn 2-2, saw Warner amass just 95 runs from 10 innings.

He averaged just 9.50 with the bat and looked jaded all along.

Notably, he also notched three ducks in the series and became a bunny of Stuart Broad.

    Quote

Langer backs Warner to come good

"I cannot wait to see him play well. When he simplifies the game, stays still and watches the ball, keeps his mind clear, we know there's no more destructive player in the world, probably," cricket.com.au quoted Langer as saying.

    Langer's views

'We are looking forward to him having a great summer'

Langer said Warner loves batting and the management is looking forward to see him perform.

"He loves batting in Australia, he loves batting, basically. We are looking forward to him having a great summer. I know how important he is to our team, that's why I had no doubt after the Ashes that he'd be in the first Test of the summer," he added.

    Warner's show

How has Warner performed since his return from ball-tampering?

Warner, who was handed a 12-month ban for ball-tampering, went on to win the prestigious Orange Cap in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.

He shined on return to international cricket during the ICC World Cup 2019.

Warner scored the second-highest runs in CWC 19.

He was superb in the recently-concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.

    Our take

Warner is expected to do well against Pakistan: Our take

One expects Warner to do well in the upcoming series against Pakistan.

He had a terrific time in the T20Is and is in sync with the conditions at home.

With Pakistan struggling of late across formats, this is a perfect chance for Warner to cash in.

He will need to keep his focus and try to make his presence felt.
