Cricketer Mohammad Kaif announces retirement
Mohammad Kaif announced his retirement from competitive cricket on Friday, July 13. His most notable achievement was helping India lift the NatWest Series in England in 2002. Interestingly, the NatWest series win, against England, came exactly 16 years ago on this day. The formidable middle-order batsman stated that it is an apt day to hang up his boots. Mohammad Kaif's feats
Mohammad Kaif made his Test debut in 2000 against South Africa. He played 13 Tests and managed 624 runs. Further, he represented India in 125 ODIs and scored 2,753 runs. He hit 2 centuries and 17 fifties. He played his final game for India in 2006 and didn't receive a national call-up in last 12 years. He was recently playing domestic cricket for Chhattisgarh.
Kaif was one of the finest fielders
Kaif was one of the finest fielders and had the safest pair of hands. Alongside Yuvraj Singh, the duo brought a new era, in 2000s, which saw Indian fielding improving drastically. Kaif played a stellar knock on this day and with Yuvi gave India a magnificent win under former skipper Sourav Ganguly. He helped India chase down a 326-run target in the NatWest final.

Kaif has scored 10,229 runs in First Class cricket, hitting 19 centuries and 59 fifties. He also took an impressive 170 catches during this time. He amassed 7,763 runs in List A games. Earlier, he also represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
