    What's the story

Liverpool have announced the signing of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig for a club record fee.

The English club paid Keita's £48m-release clause that becomes active next summer.

On top of that, they have also paid an additional premium fee that allows the youngster to complete the move next summer.

The deal surpasses the £35m paid by Liverpool for Andy Carroll back in 2011.

    A long chase

Liverpool have been chasing the player for quite a while

Liverpool was interested in signing the player for quite some time.

They even had given two offers for the 22-year-old midfielder which got rejected, with the second one reportedly around £70m.

Now, a compromise deal has been agreed such that Leipzig get to keep their prized asset this season and Klopp gets his man next summer.

    Keita's quotes

    Keita excited by the prospect

Keita said, "I will become part of a project that excites me greatly."

"My commitment to RBL remains absolute for the remainder of my time at the club. Having my future resolved means I can now focus on helping RBL achieve great things this season.

"Until I join my new club, next summer, I will remain an interested supporter from a distance."
