Manchester United set to sign Lisandro Martinez: Decoding his stats
Manchester United are closing in on their second signing of the 2022 summer transfer window. After roping in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, the Premier League side is set to seal the deal for Ajax's Lisandro Martinez. The versatile player can play both as a central defender and defensive mid-fielder. Martinez was Erik ten Hag's priority and this seems to be a valuable signing.

As per Sky Sports, last season at Ajax, Lisandro made more headed clearances (29) than any other player and won 79 of his 112 aerial duels. He had a success rate of 71 percent. Moreover, no player averaged more successful long passes than Lisandro per 90 minutes. He made 29 tackles in total and displayed a tackle success ratio of 60.4%.
Martinez has made 120 appearances for Ajax, scoring 6 goals. He also made five assists. His best season was in 2021-22 (M 42 G3 A1). Last season, he managed one goal and three assists, having played 37 matches. He made 74 appearances in the Dutch league for Ajax and 31 in European competitions.
Lisandro has won two Eredivise honors with Ajax in 2020-21 and 2021-22 respectively. He also won the KNVB Cup in 2020-21, besides the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2019. He was voted Ajax Player of the Year last season.
