Rohit, Warner are the best opening batsmen in T20: Moody
Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody picked India's Rohit Sharma and fellow Australian David Warner as the best opening batsmen in T20 cricket. Moody, who has also had stints as coach and commentator, said he would be more than happy to select Rohit and Warner as the format's best opening duo. Here's more on the same.
"Tough call, but I would be more than happy with @davidwarner31 and @ImRo45 (Rohit Sharma)," Moody wrote on his Twitter page in a question and answer session. Meanwhile, the 54-year-old revealed that Chennai Super Kings is his favourite Indian Premier League (IPL) team and MS Dhoni is his favorite captain. Moody had earlier coached the Sunrisers Hyderabad side in the IPL.
Rohit has been a champion performer in T20 cricket. The senior Indian cricketer is the third-highest run-scorer in IPL (4,898). He has one hundred and 36 fifties at 31.60. On the other hand, he has also amassed 2,773 runs in T20Is at an average of 32.62. He also has four hundreds and 21 fifties under his belt.
Meanwhile, Warner has been a consistent force in the cash-rich IPL tourney. The three-time Orange Cap winner is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL. He has plundered 4,706 runs in 126 matches. Warner has four hundreds and 44 fifties. In T20Is, Warner has 2,207 runs in 79 matches at 31.52. The southpaw has managed one hundred and 17 fifties.
Going by what these two cricketers have achieved in the 20-over format, there is no doubt that they are the best in business. Both are highly experienced and can wreck sides apart with some brutal hitting. Their champion mentality is the biggest positive.
