Pakistani pacer Mohammad Abbas has created quite a buzz across the cricket fraternity. Former and current players are in awe of the pacer as fans, too, are singing his name aloud. Abbas has been in top form in the ongoing series against Australia. In the second Test, he has already picked a host of wickets to script history. Here we look at his career.

The 28-year-old was a former welder and a laborer in a leather factory. His work, off the field, coupled with a dream to represent his nation in cricket bore fruit. He made his Pakistan debut in 2017 and since then, has never looked back. Accurate with his line and length, Abbas isn't a speed express, but he has the ability to extract movement everywhere.

He claimed a five-for in the first innings, in the second Test, to rock Australia. The pacer then inflicted misery on the Aussies in the second innings by picking 4 quick wickets as Australia are reeling at 155/7 at lunch.

Abbas has already gained the impetus to be adjudged the Player of the Series by a distance. He picked 7 wickets in the first Test, which Australia managed to drew. The confidence to prosper in conditions like these, helped him shine in the second Test. Abbas is only 10 Tests old, but he has already picked 50+ wickets up till now.

Abbas scripts an amazing record

Abbas has already started scripting records. He tops the list of the best Test match figures since the last decade by a Pakistani pace bowler. Abbas, with his heroics of 9/76 in the ongoing second Test, lies atop. He also features thrice in the top 5. He had produced figures of 9/110 against Ireland at Malahide and 8/64 against England at Lord's.

Abbas became the first pacer to take 9 wickets in a Test in UAE. He surpassed the previous best of 8/151 that was set by Junaid Khan against Sri Lanka in 2013. Several former cricketers have been saying positive things about Abbas and are predicting big things for him. One will hope that Abbas keeps the work going strongly.
