Pakistan vs Bangladesh, 1st Test: List of records broken

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by an innings and 44 runs in the first Test. Naseem Shah was the architect of the win as he became the youngest ever to take a Test hat-trick. The 16-year-old dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto, Taijul Islam and Mahmudullah on the third day. Bangladesh were bundled out for 168, having started the day on 126/6. Here's the list of records broken.

How did the match pan out?

Batting first, Bangladesh could put up only 233 in 82.5 overs. Shaheen Afridi snapped up four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas and Haris Sohail scalped two apiece. In reply, Pakistan gained a massive 212-run lead by racking up 445. Both Babar Azam and Shan Masood scored centuries. Yasir Shah and Naseem Shah took four wickets each in Bangladesh's final innings, driving Pakistan to a victory.

Shah scripted history with a hat-trick

Pace sensation Naseem Shah became the first Pakistan bowler to take a hat-trick in Test cricket after Mohammad Sami, who had clinched one against Sri Lanka in 2002. He finished the innings with figures of 4-26. With this historic feat, he surpassed the former Bangladesh spinner Alok Kapali who took a hat-trick against Pakistan in 2003, at 19.

    Babar Azam's majestic run continues

Babar Azam has scored 615 runs in last eight Test innings at an incredible average of 102.50. The tally also includes resounding four tons and two fifties. His Test record in Pakistan is even more phenomenal. In four Tests, he has scored 405 runs with three tons and a fifty. His average is a belligerent 202.50 as he has been dismissed only once.

Highest average since November 2018 (10 or more Tests)

Babar Azam (73.42) has the highest average in Tests since November 2018. He is followed by Marnus Labuschagne (72.52), Tom Latham (59.35), Kane Williamson (58.81) and Virat Kohli (58.06).
