Three contenders for Tottenham Hotspur's Player of the Year
Another season where Spurs would likely end in the top four of the Premier League. Spurs enjoyed some breathtaking football as usual but could not get the consistency that could have helped them win trophies. Another season gone by and Spurs' wait for silverware continues. The young Tottenham team have built a solid base under Mauricio Pochettino and here are the contenders.
Christian Eriksen was on top of his trades
No wonder the attacking midfielder was named in the PFA Team of the Year. Christian Eriksen had an excellent individual campaign in the Premier League. Eriksen has made 10 assists so far in EPL. It has been a record defining season for him after he bagged 14 goals across all competitions, which is his best return for the club in five seasons.
Harry Kane delivers for Spurs once again
Two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner Harry Kane lit up the domestic league after scoring 26 goals so far in EPL. The goal-machine has managed 37 goals overall which is his highest for Spurs in a season. He broke several records along the way this term and will be eying the 40-goal mark besides wrestling Mohamed Salah for the Golden Boot award.
Vertonghen deserves praise for tightening the defence
Vertonghen defined himself this season with some consistent performances over the season. Spurs have the third best defense in Premier League and the Belgian has been at the heart of it despite partnering with different partners throughout the season. Always strong on the ball, Vertonghen is a likely candidate for this award. He has been a key asset for Pochettino.
Our verdict on the possible winner
Harry Kane is sure to win the award based on another solid show. He has been eccentric for most parts of the season and is growing to become a real superstar. His performance against Juventus in Turin was a class act.
