Decoding Jose Mourinho's managerial stats at Tottenham

On Monday, Premier League club Tottenham sacked Jose Mourinho after just 17 months in charge. The former Chelsea and Manchester United boss had replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs manager in November 2019 and guided the club to sixth in the Premier League last season. Tottenham are currently seventh in the league table. Here we decode Mourinho's numbers at Tottenham in all competitions.

Daniel Levy has his say on Mourinho

"Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club," said Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. "Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged," Levy added.

Mourinho has left Spurs with a record of 27 wins, 14 draws and 17 defeats from 58 Premier League games. He managed the side in an overall 86 games across competitions. He claimed 44 wins, 19 draws and and 23 losses at a win percentage of 51.13. Since joining Porto, this is the first occasion where Mourinho didn't manage 100-plus games at a club.

Mourinho could have won a trophy with Spurs

Tottenham are set to play in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City this weekend. It would have given Mourinho a chance to win a trophy. He has won trophies prior to this with Porto, Chelsea (two different spells), Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Manchester United. He won a staggering 25 trophies with the five clubs prior to managing Tottenham.

Interestingly, eleven of the 20 points dropped from winning positions this season have come from goals conceded in the final 10 minutes of matches.

Other notable stats registered under Mourinho's reign

As per Opta, during Mourinho's time at Tottenham, only Man City (130), Liverpool (117) and Manchester United (116) claimed more Premier League points than Spurs (95).
