New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra has made a sensational return to the field after suffering a horrific forehead injury. The young gun was named in New Zealand's squad for their second Group A match of the Champions Trophy 2025 against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. This will be his debut in the prestigious tournament, popularly known as the 'mini-World Cup.'

Ravindra's injury happened while fielding during an ODI series match against Pakistan on February 8. The impact caused a laceration to his forehead, missing New Zealand's opening match against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy. Although he was seen training before this match, New Zealand didn't rush his return, prioritizing his health and recovery.

Ravindra replaces Mitchell in New Zealand's lineup

In the clash against Bangladesh, Ravindra came in place of Daryl Mitchell in New Zealand's playing XI. This tactical move witnessed one of New Zealand's best batters against spin sitting out. Further, all-rounder Kyle Jamieson was included in place of Lockie Ferguson and made his first appearance since September 2023, replacing Nathan Smith.
