What's the story

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is on the cusp of creating two big records in the upcoming ODI series against England. The three-match series, starting February 6, is a final dress rehearsal for both sides ahead of the Champions Trophy. Jadeja is only two wickets away from breaking James Anderson's record for most wickets taken in India-England ODIs. Here we decode his stats.

Record chase

Jadeja's journey toward Anderson's record

As per ESPNcricinfo, Jadeja has taken 39 wickets in 26 matches against England at 24.41, just one behind Anderson's record of 40 wickets from 31 matches. The left-arm spinner owns two four-fers against the Brits (ER: 4.77). West Indies (44) are the only team against which Jadeja has more ODI wickets. 25 of Jadeja's ODI wickets against England have come at home at 20.08.

Batting stats

Jadeja eyeing this record as well

With the bat, Jadeja has scored 509 ODI runs against England at 42.41. The tally includes three fifties including his career-best score of 87. If Jadeja takes a solitary wicket in the upcoming series, he will become the first all-rounder with the ODI double of 500 runs and 40 wickets against the Brits.

Milestone pursuit

Jadeja's pursuit of 600 international wickets

The all-rounder is also three wickets shy of completing 600 international wickets. Jadeja currently has 597 wickets from 351 matches in his international career. He is fifth on the list of Indian players with most international wickets. He will join Indian legends like Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh and Kapil Dev in the 600-wicket club.
