Ravindra Jadeja has been enjoying a dream run ever since he made his comeback to Test squad against England. The all-rounder slammed a maiden Test ton on Day 2 of the first Test against West Indies in Rajkot. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 100 as India declared at 649/9 in their first innings. Jaddu picked up a wicket as well as effected a run-out.
Maiden Test ton!
Jadeja shows immense character and aggression
The platform was set for Jadeja as he showed immense character and aggression to help his side get past 600 runs. He hit 5 fours and 5 sixes in the innings that consisted of 132 balls. The player added a crucial 55-run stand with Umesh Yadav for the 9th wicket that aided the side considerably. His intent needs to be praised here.
Jadeja has made the most of his chances
Jadeja, who warmed the bench in England, played the final Test against the hosts at the Oval last month. He picked 7 wickets in the game and also scored a knock of 86* in the first innings. The senior player was handed a spot in the Asia Cup as a replacement for Patel, and he was on the money straight away.
Jadeja could challenge Ashwin for a berth in Australia
This was the perfect stage for him to come in and express himself. Jadeja has shown that he can be promoted ahead of R Ashwin in Tests in the batting order. Also with the performances he has been putting in, he could give serious competition to Ashwin for a place in the side against Australia later this year. He is also a better fielder.
Our take: Jadeja is enjoying his cricket
Jadeja seems like someone, who is enjoying his cricket at the moment. He has stepped in and showed the side that he can add a lot as an all-rounder. This is an exciting phase for the player and he has stepped up.
