Real Madrid inch closer to third consecutive Champions League crown
Real Madrid have taken a huge step towards defending their Champions League title after a 2-1 win at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the semi-final. Goals from Marco Asensio and Marcelo secured the game for the visitors. However, Bayern Munich's only take away from the game was the goal from Joshua Kimmich.
This was the 25th meeting between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the Champions League. This is the most played fixture in the history of the competition. Real Madrid have won each of their last 6 Champions League games against Bayern Munich. This also includes both legs of last season's quarter-final.
Cristiano Ronaldo is truly the king of the Champions League. The Portuguese hitman has won 96 Champions League games which is more than any other player in the history of the competition. Real Madrid have been the most dominant team and have now won 150 Champions League matches thus becoming the first team to reach this milestone.
