Is Liverpool's Mohamed Salah better than Cristiano Ronaldo?

Would you believe if I tell you that the battle of the best footballer is no more between Messi and Ronaldo? One man has left Messi behind this season, Salah. Ronaldo and Salah are two of the leading goal scorers across Europe's top five leagues. But how do they compare when their numbers are put against each other? Who is the better player?

Salah has more league goals than Ronaldo

This season, in 24 appearances in La Liga, Ronaldo has bagged 23 goals in just 2,095 minutes of football. On the other hand, Salah has scored 30 goals in 32 appearances with 2,574 minutes of Premier League football under his belt. Salah averages a goal every 85.80 minutes while CR7 averages a goal every 91.08 minutes when it comes to their respective leagues.

Salah has more assists than Ronaldo

Ronaldo has bagged 6 assists in La Liga this season and has created 38 chances in total. Salah, on the other hand, has laid 9 assists to his team mates in the Premier League and has created 55 chances in total. The Portuguese hitman has created 1.58 chances per game while the impressive Salah has created 1.7 chances per game in league football.

Salah even has better shot accuracy

Ronaldo is very strong aerially and wins 1.3 aerial duels every game in La Liga. This is where the Egyptian King falls short, literally, as the 5'9" forward has won just 0.4 aerial duels per game in league football. Ronaldo has a shot accuracy of 56% in La Liga while Salah has a shot accuracy of 62% in the Premier League.

Ronaldo is the hero you need for Champions League

When it comes to the Champions League, Real Madrid's sharpshooter puts on his A game. Ronaldo always performs on Champions League nights. In 10 matches, he has scored 15 goals in 900 minutes of football, that's a goal almost every 60 minutes. The Egyptian King has scored 8 in 10 games from 735 minutes of football, that averages to 91.8 minutes per goal.

Salah is better with key passing

Ronaldo has bagged 3 assists and has created 14 chances in total in the Champions League. Mohamed Salah might not have as many goals as Ronaldo has but he has laid 2 assists to his team-mates and has created 18 chances in the Champions League.

Ronaldo has more goals in 2017-18 season

If we compare the whole of the 2017-18 season including cup games and internationals, Ronaldo has scored 42 goals and bagged 8 assists in 40 games from 2995 minutes of football, averaging a goal every 71.3 minutes. Salah, on the other hand, has scored 42 goals and laid 11 assists in 47 games from 3309 minutes of football, that's a goal every 78.78 minutes.

Surge in form at the turn of 2018

It's hard to believe the fact that Ronaldo had just 4 goals in La Liga until January 20th. Since then he has scored 19 goals in his last 10 games. I know what a beast. So who do you think is the better player? The numbers are in front of you. So go ahead and leave your comments below.
