    South Africa beat Pakistan in first Test: Here're records broken
  • South Africa ended 2018 on a high after taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series against Pakistan at home.

    The Proteas thrashed Pakistan by six wickets to seal the first Test match in Centurion.

    Needing 149 runs to win, South Africa were helped by Dean Elgar (50) and Hashim Amla (63*).

    Steyn has 424 Test wickets to his name and is the leading wicket-taker in this format by a South African cricketer.

    He achieved the feat in his 89th Test match.

  • Hashim Amla scored his 40th career Test fifty and the fifth of 2018.

    He now has 9,093 runs in Tests and is 172 runs behind former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith (9,265).

    Amla also went past the 500-run mark in Test cricket in 2018 (510).

    He is the fourth South African batsman to go past the mark this year.
