1st ODI, West Indies beat India: List of records broken

West Indies stunned India in the first ODI on Sunday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Shimron Hetmyer's powerful hundred guided West Indies past the Men in Blue. Team India managed 287/8 in 50 overs. Hetmyer (139) got solid company from Shai Hope to help WI chase down the target. Here are the records broken.

Iyer and Pant notch these feats

Shreyas Iyer (70) slammed his fifth career ODI fifty. This was his third successive fifty in the format. Notably, all these three fifties have come against West Indies. Rishabh Pant (71) notched his maiden ODI fifty in his 13th match. The two added a 114-run stand for the fourth wicket. It was India's third successive century-plus stand for the fourth wicket in ODIs.

Rohit Sharma surpasses 1,250 ODI runs in 2019

Rohit Sharma (36) became the second batsman in 2019 to get past 1,250 runs. He now has 1,268 runs and trails leader Virat Kohli (1,292). Rohit raced to 121 fours and is three short of Kohli 124. The Hitman surpassed the 1,300-run mark in ODIs against WI (1,301). He became the seventh batsman to do so in India-West Indies ODI matches.

Hetmyer slams fifth career ODI hundred

Shimron Hetmyer slammed his fifth career ODI century. The southpaw amassed his second career ODI ton versus India. Notably, all of his five centuries have come within 85 balls. He also went past 100 fours in his ODI career, besides surpassing the 1,300-run mark. Hetmyer surpassed Evin Lewis (1,351) in terms of career ODI runs. He notched his highest career ODI score.

Hetmyer registers these records as well

Hetmyer became the fifth batsman to notch 100-plus strike-rate in all of his century innings in ODIs. AB de Villiers, Ijaz Ahmed, Jonny Bairstow and Shahid Afridi are the four other batsmen to do so. The left-handed batsman has notched the fifth-highest score in chases versus India in India. He also registered the fifth-highest individual score for WI versus India in ODIs.

Shai Hope scripts a host of notable feats

Hope slammed his eighth career ODI hundred. The opener went past Dwayne Bravo (2,839) in terms of career ODI runs. Notably, Hope slammed his fourth ODI century this year. He became the seventh batsman to get past 100 fours in 2019. Hope is also the first West Indian to do so. He became the third batsman to surpass 1,200 runs in ODIs this year.

Hope and Hetmyer script record 218-run stand

Hope and Hetmyer added a 218-run stand for the second wicket. This is now the third-highest partnership runs in India-West Indies ODIs. This is West Indies' second-best stand against India for the second wicket in ODIs.

How did the match pan out?

India lost KL Rahul (6) and Kohli (4) early on. Rohit and Iyer added a 55-run partnership for the third wicket. Iyer got along with Pant to help India gain ground. However, Iyer and Pant fell in quick succession to hand WI the momentum. Kedar Jadhav (40) helped India get past 280. In reply, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer helped WI cruise along.
