Here's more details on the same.
Sivaramakrishnan is tipped to take the throne
Current chief selector MSK Prasad's reign is soon coming to an end and talks have been going on regarding former Indian spinner Sivaramakrishnan, who is tipped to take the throne.
He is said to have got backing from Tamil Nadu.
The major discussions in the AGM will be about the selection committee and about the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) that will appoint the selectors.
Gyanendra Pandey to join Sivaramakrishnan in the selection panel
With Prasad's tenure coming to an end this year, there were talks that the entire panel could be removed and replaced with a completely new one.
According to The New Indian Express, things have changed now.
Gyanendra Pandey, who is currently a junior selector, is likely to join Sivaramakrishnan in the selection panel alongside Jatin Paranjpe, Devang Gandhi and Sarandeep Singh.
MSK Prasad was under the scanner
MSK Prasad was selected as BCCI chief selector on September 21, 2016.
He faced constant criticisms of late especially after the confusion surrounding the number four batsman in the ODI set-up.
That was evident in the 2019 World Cup as well.
The choices of players and constant changes in the ranks saw MSK being criticized.
Many questioned his take on MS Dhoni as well.
Salary of selectors could be hiked
The NIE report adds that the BCCI found few takers as many declined to apply for the selection committee job when the board contacted them over the past month.
There is a possibility that the salary of selectors will now be increased at the AGM to attract more candidates.
The range could be between Rs. 1.5 crore to Rs. 2 crore for the chief.
