What's the story

Sunrisers Hyderabad once again entered the record books with their unabashed striking in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They smashed 266/7 against Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of IPL 2024 after being called in to bat. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma hammered the DC bowlers with a 131-run stand. SRH also slammed the highest-ever score after the first 10 overs in the IPL.

Start

SRH reach 150 inside 10 overs

Head and Abhishek brought up SRH's fifty in just 2.4 overs, with 19 runs coming in first. The duo clobbered 125/0 in the first six overs, now the highest powerplay score in T20 cricket. After reaching 131, SRH lost Abhishek, Aiden Markram, Head, and Heinrich Klaasen in quick succession. However, the Orange Army crossed 150 before the 10-over mark.

Information

SRH break their own record

As mentioned, SRH now have the highest-ever score after the first 10 overs in the IPL (158/4). The Orange Army broke their own record as they smashed 148/2 in 10 overs against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Hyderabad earlier this season.

Head torments DC bowlers

Head smashed 89 off 32 balls, a knock laced with 11 fours and 6 sixes. The left-hander smashed a 10-ball 32 in the first two overs. In the very next over, he smacked Anrich Nortje for 4 fours and a six. Mukesh Kumar was also on the receiving end, having conceded 22 runs against Head. Head now has the joint-fastest IPL half-century for SRH.

Information

Abhishek unleashes his carnage

While Head majorly took on the DC bowlers, Abhishek unleashed his carnage in just 12 balls. The latter slammed 2 fours and 6 sixes in his 12-ball 46 (SR: 383.33). Abhishek has been among the runs in IPL 2024.

Three 250+ totals in T20 cricket

It is worth noting that SRH now own the joint-most 250+ totals in franchise T20 cricket. They share this record with Surrey. Notably, each of SRH's three 250+ totals have come in IPL 2024.
