MS Dhoni sues Amrapali Group over Rs. 150 crore dues
Former Team India skipper MS Dhoni has sued Amrapali Group over dues worth Rs. 150 crore. The champion cricketer seeks to recover the money he is supposed to get from the troubled real estate firm. According to reports, Dhoni alleged that he hasn't received his payments for years. Dhoni was the brand ambassador of the firm and Amrapali owes him money for the same.
Trouble mounts for Amrapali group
MSD suing the troubled firm comes as the latest blow for the group. The firm has been unable to deliver housing projects in several cities across India. Dhoni is managed by Rhiti Sports, which has claimed that over crores of rupees have to be paid by Amrapali. "They haven't given us money for branding and marketing activities," said Pandey, MD of Rhiti Sports .
Dhoni's tryst with Amrapali group
Dhoni was the brand ambassador of the company for several years. He quit his position in 2016 after pressure from public on social media outlets. Dhoni was also promised Rs. 1 crore villa in Noida extension alongside other members of the 2011 World Cup winning team. But reports claim that the firm never managed to build the same and gift it to players.
When MSD had sued a media outlet
In 2014, MS Dhoni had filed a Rs. 100 crore defamation suit on Zee network. He had alleged that the media outlet had been carrying false reports regarding him in relation to the IPL match-fixing scandal.
