European Football: Five best summer transfers of 2019

The football summer transfer window is on and teams across Europe are on the look out to bolster their squads by acquiring the services of rising stars. Several big clubs have already splashed huge money on reinforcements ahead of the upcoming season. Here we look at the top five transfer deals so far and what to expect from these players.

Eden Hazard could light up Real Madrid's campaign

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in a £88.5 mn deal plus add-ons. The versatile forward left Chelsea as a legend after appearing in 352 matches and scoring 110 goals. Hazard won six trophies with Chelsea and brings the winning mentality. He is a perfect acquisition by Real in terms of boosting the forward line. Hazard will look to create chances aplenty.

Antoine Griezmann will look to replicate his form at Barcelona

French superstar Antoine Griezmann made a move to Spanish champions Barcelona from Atletico Madrid. Barca activated the £107 mn clause to get the 28-year-old forward. Griezmann scored 133 goals in 257 games for Atletico. The prolific goal-scorer can be an instant hit at Barca due to his vast experience and knowledge. The trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Griezmann is a dream combination.

Youngster Joao Felix could be the next big star

19-year-old sensation Joao Felix was signed by Atletico for a staggering £113 mn. This is the fifth highest transfer deal of all time. Felix has huge potential to shine as a forward. He had made his debut at the senior level last season for Benfica. He is extremely intelligent and quick. Felix isn't a typical striker and Atletico will tweak the formation for him.

Rodri can boost City's mid-field options

Spanish mid-fielder Rodri left Atletico after just one season with the club to join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City for £62.8 mn. The former Villarreal player is being projected as someone who could be a long-term option to replace Fernandinho. His positional strength is something that will boost City. Rodri can also spot passes and provide that extra shield in mid-field.

Lucas Hernandez can become vital for Bayern

German champions Bayern Munich signed Atletico Madrid's Lucas Hernandez for £68 mn. He made a total of 110 appearances for Atletico and won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. The 23-year-old World Cup winner is an excellent choice. He can play both as a left-back and a central defender. The Frenchman has plenty of experience and can become an integral part of Bayern.
