Hobart Hurricanes have clinched their first Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) title, defeating Perth Scorchers by a whopping eight wickets. Lizelle Lee was the star of the show, scoring an unbeaten 77 runs off just 44 balls to lead her team to victory with 30 balls to spare. With this win, the Hurricanes are now the 7th different side to win the premier Women's T20 tournament. Here's more.

Lee's innings included 10 fours and four sixes, making it the highest score in a WBBL final. She also shared a crucial 77-run partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt (35 off 27 balls) to help her team chase down the target. Despite dropping several catches in the field, Hurricanes managed to restrict Scorchers to a total of 137 runs for five wickets. The Scorchers saw Beth Mooney score 33. She was dropped twice. Sophie Devine scored a 29-ball 34.

Hurricanes secured a direct passage to the final after finishing at the top of the table this season. From 10 matches, they won 7 and lost 2 (NR: 1). They claimed 15 points (NRR: 0.662). On the other hand, Scorchers, who were looking for their second title, had to win two finals games to qualify. They finished 3rd in the league stage, collecting six wins and four defeats from 10 matches.

The Sydney Sixes have won two titles as well. They won in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Brisbane Heat won the WBBL title in 2018-19 and 2019. The Scorchers won the tournament in 2021. Adelaide Strikers claimed the title in 2022 and 2023. Melbourne Renegades finished winners in 2024.
