As Britain battles freezing cold, 'snow baby' born on roadside
As Britain and other parts of Europe brave freezing cold, a story of an incredible birth has warmed hearts across. The Waring family was in labor and on their way to hospital, but got stuck in snow. Andrew then helped Daniella give birth right on the side of Highway A66. Little Sienna was born safely, but social media knows her as "#A66snowbaby" of England.
Couple got stuck in snow on way to hospital
Daniella went into labor yesterday morning, but they got stuck on the way in the "very bad weather." "I struggled to find somewhere to pull over and barely had time to ring 999 (emergency) when the baby started coming," Andrew said. He had been there for the birth of their two other kids too, so he knew what to do.
Both mother and baby are doing well, hospital says
Soon, paramedics arrived, but not without difficulty: they couldn't locate the family easily amid the snow. When they found them, they tended to mother and child and rushed them to the Darlington Memorial Hospital. A nurse said the newborn, Sienna, was kept in a special cot with a warm water-filled mattress. Priority was keeping her in skin contact with her mother.

Social media hails miraculous birth of the 'snow baby'
Taking to Twitter, Great North Air Ambulance posted: "Here she is. Sienna Louisa Dottie Waring, born by the side of the A66, welcome to the world!" and hashtagged it #A66snowbaby. "Amazing story! They should call her Elsa!" said @ant_tweets. "I'm emotional, I hope mother & baby are doing well!" posted @gem1983gemma. The ambulance service is a charity and entirely funded by the public.
