India, Canada rush to finalize CEPA before PM Modi visit
World
India and Canada are rushing to wrap up a big trade agreement (CEPA) before Prime Minister Modi heads to Canada on December 11-12.
The next round of talks is set for New Delhi, with both countries trying to sort out tricky issues like easier agricultural exports and smoother visa rules.
India, Canada discuss tariffs and visas
Canada wants lower tariffs so it can sell more pulses and farm products in India, while India is pushing for better opportunities for its students and professionals.
Both sides are also talking about work visas, digital trade, labor laws, and greener standards.
If all goes well, they hope to more than double their annual trade by 2030, a win-win if they can pull it off.
