Captain Smit Machchhar is being celebrated as a "true hero" by Israel's prime minister after he was stabbed by his co-pilot aboard a Flydubai flight.

Even after being stabbed by his co-pilot, Machchhar managed to open the cockpit and let passengers and crew take down the attacker, helping everyone land safely in Saudi Arabia.

Machchhar is stable and receiving treatment at a Saudi hospital, with the Indian Embassy keeping an eye on him.

Meanwhile, the US has officially ended its 12-year military mission against ISIS in Iraq, and Tennessee may soon carry out its first execution of a woman in more than 200 years.
