Did JD Vance 'yell at wife' inside restaurant? He answers
What's the story
United States Vice President JD Vance has responded to online trolls after they circulated a photo of him that appears to show him having an argument with his wife, Usha, at a restaurant. The undated and unverified image shows Vance looking displeased in a white T-shirt while sitting across from Usha, who appears distressed. The photo was first shared by Facebook user Thomas Clay Jr on December 5. "Looks like things are not so good in Republicanistan," the user wrote.
Public reaction
Vance's humorous response to marriage speculation
Vance responded to the speculation with humor, writing on X, "I always wear an undershirt when I go out in public to have a fight loudly with my wife." The photo has also been speculated to be AI-generated. Since October, there has been speculation about the state of their marriage when the VP embraced Erika, the widow of Charlie Kirk, on stage. In November and December, Usha was seen without her wedding ring at events with First Lady Melania Trump.

Marriage strength
Vance addresses marriage rumors in NBC interview
In an interview with NBC News, Vance addressed these rumors and said he "kind of gets a kick out of it." He added that their marriage is "as strong as it's ever been," despite Usha's occasional forgetfulness with her wedding ring. The speculation intensified when Vance suggested his Hindu wife embrace Christianity, which was seen as an insult to her identity. However, he later clarified that he didn't expect Usha to convert.
