Audi retracts decision to phase out ICE by 2033
Audi is no longer sticking to its 2033 cutoff for ending petrol and diesel (ICE) car production.
Instead, the brand will keep launching new ICE and plug-in hybrid models until at least 2026, and could keep making them for years after that—depending on what buyers actually want.
The move comes as EVs aren't catching on as fast as expected.
Audi will not force a switch to EVs
Rather than forcing a switch, Audi says it's focusing on what customers need right now.
Popular models like the A5, Q5, and Q3 will still offer petrol, diesel, and hybrid options—so if you're not ready for an EV yet, you've got choices.
Audi will offer both electric and hybrid RS6 models
Audi's sporty RS6 lineup isn't going all-electric either.
The next RS6 will have a powerful plug-in hybrid V8 version (with Porsche tech) plus a fully electric RS6 E-tron.
So whether you love engine sound or silent speed, there's something in the pipeline.
