BMW incorporates natural fibre composites in future models

BMW is making its cars greener by using natural fiber composites—materials tested in their racing cars—in regular production models.
This shift is a big step toward cutting down on carbon emissions.

TL;DR

Flax-based composites reduce CO2 emissions by around 40%

Partnering with Swiss company Bcomp, BMW plans to use flax-based composites that could reduce CO2 emissions by around 40%.
These materials first showed up in BMW M Motorsport back in 2019, and now they're set to feature in everyday BMW M models.
As CEO Franciscus van Meel puts it, these innovations are "Born on the racetrack. Made for the streets," showing BMW's push for sustainability without losing its sporty edge.
