Ford recalls vehicles over child safety concerns

Ford is recalling almost 200,000 Mustang Mach-E SUVs (2021-2025 models) in the US because of a software bug that messes with the door locks.
The glitch—caused by a 12-volt battery issue—could leave doors stuck locked or unlocked, which means you might get trapped inside or locked out.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration flagged the problem after getting several reports.

TL;DR

Sales of affected cars paused

Ford has paused sales and deliveries of affected cars since early June and stopped making the faulty parts.
If you own one, expect a recall notice starting June 23.
A free software fix at dealerships is coming, expected in Q3 2025.

What to watch out for

Watch for your SYNC screen going blank after you turn off your car or if your door handles suddenly feel stiff.
So far, no injuries or accidents have been reported, and dealers will be ready to update your car as soon as the fix drops.
