What's the story

A few days back, we reported that Honda is gearing up to launch the Rebel 500 cruiser in India by the end of this year. However, before that, the Japanese automaker would bring its younger sibling, the Rebel 300, to our shores. The motorcycle shares its styling cues and underpinnings with the 500cc model but packs a comparatively less powerful engine. Here's our roundup.

Design

A look at the Honda Rebel 300

Much like its elder sibling, the Rebel 300 sits on the same steel diamond frame and features an old-school cruiser design with a rounded headlamp, mirrors and indicators, a comfortable riding position, and an exposed engine. The motorcycle houses a fully-digital instrument console and gets all-LED fitments for lighting. It has a wheelbase of 1,490mm and a fuel-tank capacity of 11.2 liter.

Information

Power and performance

The Honda Rebel 300 draws power from a 286cc liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. The motor is capable of producing 30.4PS of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 27.4Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.

Safety

Honda Rebel 300: On the road

In the safety department, the Honda Rebel 300 comes equipped with disc brakes on both the front and rear ends, along with dual-channel ABS for improved braking efficiency. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by 41mm telescopic forks up front and a dual-shock unit on the rear.

And, what will be the pricing?

As for the pocket-pinch, the Honda Rebel 300 is priced at $4,499 (approximately Rs. 3.37 lakh) in the US. However, considering that the motorcycle would be heavily localized, it is likely to cost around Rs. 2.5 lakh in India.
