Honda reportedly partners with Tata Technologies on multi powertrain platform
Honda is reportedly in a big partnership with Tata Technologies to build a new vehicle platform: think one base that works for regular fuel cars, hybrids, and full EVs.
It's the first time Honda has handed off this kind of work to an Indian company.
The move comes as Honda looks to cut costs and rethink its lineup after reporting its first annual loss since 1948.
India to make 2028 export models
India is now front and center in Honda's global plans, especially since its market share there dropped from 7% to under 2% over the past decade.
Starting in 2028, expect new models made in India, which will also serve as a key export hub for Latin America and Southeast Asia.
As CEO Toshihiro Mibe put it in May this year, Honda wants to utilize external resources more flexibly and strategically, highlighting how important India's engineering talent is becoming for the brand.
