Hyundai's 1st-ever pickup truck is coming with range-extender hybrid system

Auto

Hyundai is finally jumping into the Aussie pickup scene with an all-new, original mid-size truck set for launch by 2028.
What's cool? It'll use a range-extender hybrid (EREV) system—so you get electric drive vibes, but without worrying about plugging in.
The gasoline engine acts as a generator, powering the electric motors and expected to offer up to 1,000km of combined range.

Hyundai promises it'll be 'mind-blowing'

This isn't just a rebadged model—Hyundai Australia's CEO Don Romano promises it'll be "mind-blowing" and totally unique.
With its ladder-frame chassis (think: strong and off-road friendly), it's designed to take on legends like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.
Even though Hyundai is late to the party, they're betting their tech will help them stand out from rivals like Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton, and others.
