Kia celebrates 80th anniversary with Vision Meta Turismo concept

Kia Motors has unveiled a new concept car, the Vision Meta Turismo, to mark its 80th anniversary and showcase its future direction. The edgy four-seat GT is a departure from current Kia models and hints at the evolution of the brand's Opposites United design language. While there's no word on production plans, the size and shape of this concept could hint at future EV7 or EV8 models.

A nod to performance
The Vision Meta Turismo is a four-door fastback GT, much like the Polestar 5 and Lotus Emeya. It features a swooping silhouette that clearly prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency. The concept also has sharply angled headlights with thin LED strips mounted on the muscular front haunches, which protrude from the body of the car to house rear-view cameras.

The Vision Meta Turismo ditches the traditional bonnet for a cab-forward profile, similar to the Jaguar I-Pace. The windscreen extends almost to the front end's leading edge, hinting at a design shift that exploits Kia's EV E-GMP platform packaging freedoms. The multi-section panoramic roof curves down toward a bluff rear end with an integrated spoiler and contrasting black diffuser.

A tech-led cockpit
The interior of the Vision Meta Turismo is a pure concept with a radically minimalist and tech-led cockpit. It features a "highly immersive" cabin that emphasizes next-generation technology, replacing screens and buttons with a full-width 3D head-up display and holographic driver screen. The concept also has an unusual yoke device in place of a steering wheel, though its exact function remains unclear as conventional pedals are still present.
