Maruti Suzuki reports 6% sales decline in June
Maruti Suzuki's total sales dropped 6.3% in June 2025, with just under 1.68 lakh units sold—down from last year.
The big reason? Fewer people are buying small cars, dragging domestic passenger vehicle sales down by over 13%.
Domestic sales down over 13%
Mini and compact models like the Alto and Swift saw a sharp 17.5% drop in sales, mostly because entry-level car prices have shot up more than 70% since 2019 thanks to stricter rules.
Even with India's economy growing steadily, these price hikes are making small cars less accessible for many.
Exports hit new record
While things were tough at home, Maruti Suzuki's exports actually jumped nearly 22%, hitting a new monthly record.
Sales to other automakers also grew slightly, helping soften the blow—especially as rivals like Mahindra & Mahindra saw their own domestic sales rise by 18%.
