Mercedes-Benz ends Level 3 focus for MB.DRIVE Assist Pro
Auto
Mercedes-Benz is switching gears on its self-driving tech.
After testing out Level 3 autonomy for a few years, the company realized it just wasn't practical: too many limits with speed and where you can actually use it.
Now, they're focusing on a souped-up Level 2++ system called MB.DRIVE Assist Pro, which helps with things like lane changes and traffic lights in both city and highway driving.
Mercedes-Benz targets fully hands-off Level 4
Instead of spending more time on Level 3, Mercedes wants to leap straight to fully hands-off (Level 4) driving in the future.
