Polaris recalls 5,600 Ranger vehicles over fire hazard
Polaris is recalling about 5,600 of its 2025-2026 Ranger XP 1000 NorthStar and Crew XP 1000 NorthStar vehicles because a misplaced alternator cable could cause electrical shorts and even fires.
There have already been five reports of sparking or smoke, and one actual fire.
What owners need to do
If you've got one of these Rangers, Polaris says to park it outside for now, fold up the passenger seats, and take out any underseat storage bins—plus don't let anyone sit in those spots until it's fixed.
Free repairs are available at authorized dealers, so booking that appointment soon is your safest bet.
How to check if your ride's on the list
To see if your vehicle is affected, just enter your VIN on Polaris's recall site or call their helpline (1-800-765-2747).
You'll find the VIN on the left rear frame under the cargo box.
Acting quickly helps keep you—and your adventures—safe.
