Subaru's 2026 Outback gets a Google-powered upgrade

Auto

Subaru's 2026 Outback is getting a tech boost with Google's Android Automotive OS built right into its infotainment system.
That means you'll have Google Assistant for hands-free help and easy access to your favorite apps—no phone required.
Subaru joins brands like Ford and Volvo in making this move.

What else is new?

The new system runs on a speedy Snapdragon 8 chip, packs 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and lets you control things like climate and drive modes straight from the screen.
You still get wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus Subaru is bringing back physical buttons for the AC (for everyone who misses them).
The 2026 Outback starts at $34,995 and hits US dealerships by late 2025—and it's expected these upgrades will come to more Subaru models in the future.
