Tata Motors, Mahindra lead 2025 ICCT global EV efficiency rankings
Tata Motors and Mahindra just landed the top spots in the 2025 global EV efficiency rankings by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT, yes, ahead of Tesla).
The ratings looked at how efficiently carmakers use energy, their EV sales, and how green their manufacturing is.
Tata 106 Wh/km, Mahindra 113 Wh/km
Both companies beat the global average for energy consumption. Tata's EVs clocked in at 106 Wh/km and Mahindra at 113 Wh/km (the average is 131 Wh/km).
Their secret? Designing lighter, more efficient crossovers like the Tata Sierra EV and Mahindra BE 6 that focus on saving energy instead of chasing max performance.
India targets 30% EVs by 2030
Even though less than 5% of new cars sold in India are electric right now, this win puts Indian automakers on the global map.
With a government target of 30% EVs by 2030, Tata and Mahindra's focus on affordable efficiency could help speed things up.
