Tata Motors's Shailesh Chandra becomes 1st Indian OICA President
Shailesh Chandra, CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, just made history as the first Indian to be named President of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA).
Starting November 2025, he'll be leading this global auto group, with a focus on sustainable mobility and supporting the industry's pursuit of 'Net Zero' emissions worldwide.
Chandra's journey and OICA's role
Chandra's not new to big moves—he's helped shape Tata Motors into a leader in India's electric vehicle scene and heads the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) too.
With over 20 years at Tata and degrees from IIT Varanasi and SP Jain, he brings serious experience.
OICA itself is a major player in setting international car standards, representing 36 national auto associations.
Alongside Chandra, Hildegard Muller was named Vice President.
