VinFast to launch India-specific e-scooters by late 2026

Auto

VinFast, a Vietnamese EV brand, is gearing up to bring its electric scooters to India by late 2026.
The company wants to take on big names like Bajaj, TVS, Ather, and Ola Electric.
Right now, they're testing their scooters in Indian conditions and figuring out the right price points to fit local needs.

Taking it slow with tech and design

VinFast isn't rushing things—CEO Pham Sanh Chau says they're focused on getting the technology and design just right for Indian riders.
They're still deciding which ones will make the cut.

Big investment and local assembly

This India entry is part of VinFast's huge ₹16,000 crore investment plan.
They've already set up an assembly plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu (recently inaugurated), after launching their VF6 and VF7 electric cars here.

Which e-scooters might launch?

Options on the table include the Vento S (89km/h speed/160km range) and Theon S (99km/h/150km).
Hub-motor models like Evo Grand (up to 262km range) and Klara Neo are also being considered—but final picks aren't locked in yet.

Why it matters for India's EV scene

Electric two-wheelers are booming in India—they make up around 60-70% of all EV sales thanks to rising fuel prices and better charging infrastructure.
With demand climbing fast, VinFast's move could shake things up for riders looking for new options.
