Volkswagen gives Virtus a sharper look with new facelift
What's the story
Volkswagen has officially unveiled the design of its upcoming Virtus (facelift). The midsize sedan gets a complete makeover, with a new front bumper featuring diamond-shaped elements and smaller fog lamps that seem to be projector LED units. The headlights remain unchanged from the previous model, but the grille now sports an illuminated VW logo and a GT badge.
Design upgrades
The sedan features redesigned black alloy wheels
The Virtus (facelift) also sports redesigned 16-inch black alloy wheels, with dual-tone rims expected for non-GT trims.
The ORVMs come with camera pods for a surround-view monitor. A red GT badge is placed on the front doors.
The rear design of the sedan remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, save for a slightly revised black section on the lower rear bumper and a red GT badge on the boot lid.
Interior upgrades
Its cabin will likely be similar to Taigun's
While the interior design and feature updates of the Virtus (facelift) are yet to be revealed, they are likely to be similar to those seen in its sibling model, the Volkswagen Taigun.
These could include a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an updated climate control system with a revised compressor for improved cooling performance.
The existing 10.1-inch infotainment system may also get a refreshed user interface (UI) along with an integrated AI-powered voice assistant.
Safety specs
It will get a new 360-degree camera
The facelifted Virtus will carry over features like a single-pane sunroof, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control with rear vents, and an 8-speaker sound system.
The safety suite is likely to remain unchanged from the previous model, except for a new 360-degree camera and front parking sensors.
It will include six standard airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a day/night inside rearview mirror (IRVM).
Engine details
It will be offered with 3 powertrain options
The Virtus shares its powertrain options with the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and its Skoda counterparts: the Slavia and Kushaq.
All these models recently received a new eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission (AT), replacing the previous six-speed AT option on the 115hp 1.0-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine.
This update is also expected to be featured in the facelifted Virtus.
The six-speed manual gearbox option with same 115hp engine and dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with larger 150hp 1.5-liter turbo-petrol mill are likely to be retained as well.
