    WannaCry ransomware shuts down Bengaluru's ATMs

    According to a bank official, hundreds of ATMs across Bengaluru remained shut for the second day on Tuesday due to a potential virus attack by WannaCry ransomware. The ransomware affected old ATMs; new ATMs with Microsoft's Windows 10 remain unaffected by the ransomware. Bengaluru has 10,000 out of Karnataka's 18,000 ATMs. Read on for more news from Bengaluru.

    The tourism department of Bengaluru is gearing up to renovate the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. The interior of the museum would be curated by experts, tenders for which are going to be floated soon. This year on 18th May, tourism and culture departments will celebrate International Museum Day for the first time.

    Fake mark sheet scam on a large-scale level, says Police

    As Bengaluru Police investigate the marks cards racket that was busted last week, they're discovering that over 100s of residents have acquired jobs on the basis of fake mark sheets. Currently, the police have identified 400 such people who are employed in the government and corporate sector of Karnataka on the basis of these fake certificates.

    BBMP will no longer lift bulk wet waste from complexes

    The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) will stop lifting wet waste generated by residential and commercial complexes with 20 units or more, June onwards. Joint Commissioner of health and solid waste management, Sarfaraz Khan said the decision aims to decrease the pressure on landfills in and around Bengaluru. Those generating wet waste in bulk will now have to compost it within their buildings.

    Bengaluru institute to rejuvenate 30 rivers

    Bengalurean institute Sri Sri Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Trust (SSIAST) has taken up the task of rejuvenating 30 rivers by reviving natural water resources. These rivers are spread across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Because of SSIAST's efforts, several villages on Bengaluru's outskirts have witnessed improved water availability since the last two summers.

    BBMP floats global tenders for pod taxis

    The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has floated tenders for its pod taxi project, inviting expressions of interest from both national as well as international eligible firms experienced in handling cable car systems in urban areas. According to BBMP's requirements in the tender, the pod taxis must be solar powered, easy to operate, and should be able to transport 15,000 people in one hour.
