Alphabet (yep, Google's parent company) has invested nearly $548 million in Qualcomm, snapping up almost three million shares as of September.
This comes right after Qualcomm posted weaker smartphone chip sales than expected, but Alphabet seems more interested in Qualcomm's nascent data-center segment.
The news gave Qualcomm's stock a nice boost, jumping over 3% in premarket trading.
