Anthropic's valuation skyrockets to $350B after Microsoft, NVIDIA's investment
What's the story
Artificial intelligence (AI) start-up Anthropic has seen its valuation soar to around $350 billion. This is a significant jump from the company's previous valuation of $183 billion in September. The surge comes after tech giants Microsoft and NVIDIA jointly invested $15 billion into the AI start-up as part of a strategic partnership aimed at broadening their AI capabilities.
Investment details
Anthropic to purchase $30 billion worth of Azure compute capacity
The deal will see Microsoft invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, while NVIDIA will invest up to $10 billion. As part of the agreement, Anthropic has also committed to purchasing $30 billion worth of Azure compute capacity from Microsoft and additional compute capacity from NVIDIA's Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
Future plans
Anthropic's commitment to AI growth and development
Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, has positioned itself as a trustworthy and safety-conscious player in the AI space. The company had raised $13 billion at a valuation of $183 billion in September 2025 and boasts 300,000 business customers. It plans to invest $50 billion into building custom data centers for AI work across multiple US locations including Texas and New York.
Model availability
Anthropic's models to be available on Microsoft's Foundry service
As part of the new deal, Anthropic's models will also be available on Microsoft's Foundry service for deploying AI models on the cloud. This move comes as Microsoft had announced in September that it would start using Anthropic's models to power its workplace AI assistant. The tech giant has also invested billions in OpenAI, a rival of Anthropic, since 2019 and holds a stake in OpenAI's for-profit business worth $135 billion.
